The beautiful and spacious Centrum will afford comfort for festival-goered s. Ms. Mann is constantly developing and creating new material for her shows. This summer we have created several new numbers to showcase in our concerts, said Mann. For example, in The Old South, a new work is being choreographed for my lead dancer Gwen Grimes. The setting for this new number will be the Appalachian mountains. Through her dance, Grimes will portray the longing of a young mountain girl who feels that life is passing her by and she will live and grow old in the mountains where only the wild flowers that grow in her grave in the spring will ever know she was there, said Mann. This solo work will give Grimes the opportunity to reveal her years of technical training and acting ability that has been polished through hundreds of performances, said Mann, adding it shows that she is a master of her art. New' music, capturing the arrogance of the southern plantation owner, has been commissioned for the Grand Ball, said Mann. This waltz will represent the wealth and aristocracy of southern plantation owners. Another work that will be featured for the first time in the Old South will be the Creole lullaby LaSavanne. This lullaby will be sung by the velvet voice of Jackie Taylor-Suttosauj Mann. The song is old southern set at an plantation when the Mammie sings to sleep the children she cares for. The American Folk Ballet is truly an adventure through American history, told through the words and dance of founder, Burch Mann, said American Folk Ballet Promotional Manager Michael Anderson. Burch Mann has tried to capture the drive and determination of America in her choreography.
