Writer defends fight song Editor's note: jason Grad, a seventh grade student at Ticaboo High School in Ticaboo, Utah designed this unique letter to the Editor defending the new SUSC fight song. He is a student of jeff Hinton, one of the authors of the SUSC's winning fight song. Student defends rodeo TO THE EDITOR: Let's not confuse the facts with fiction. The story printed in last week's Thunderbird held many half-trutand fake accusations. First, the Rodeo Club does have advisers, Dean (Al) Tait, Sonny Jerod and Suejerod are the faculty and traveling advisers. Second, K.C. Jones passed on false information about the number of eligible club members, which should not have been discussed or printed. As far as the rumors mentioned of misconduct on trips, you should investigate the activities of other clubs and teams as well as the Rodeo Club. The Rodeo Club has received little recognition for their accomplishments over the past few years. The women's team qualified for the College National Finals, placing several team members in the top 15 in the nation. The men's team also sent several members to the College National Finals. They also placed extremely well. The SUSC Rodeo team has represented the school well. If you are wondering why we haven't put in the effort we said we would, it's discouraging to try to support something when you don't get the recognition and support back you deserve. We travel hundreds of miles in our own vehicles and spend our own money to be able to participate. Because of lack of funds we often have to stay with teams from other schools or sleep on the floor of the van. The Rodeo Club doesn't have one full scholarship. Now you know why we are discouraged and sometimes don't put in the effort we should. There wi l be a rodeo class taught in the spring quarter for those who are interested. We would like your support and help. The next club meeting will be March 2 in the Life Science Building at 5 p.m. for those interested.
