Today at 7 p.m. the Pepsi Hot Shot competition takes place in the P.E. gym. It is open to both men and women. The winners will receive a k of Pepsi and a On Thursday, Alpine Lanes is hosting team bowling. Teams will consist of three bowlers with at least one member being female. Offensive center Brent Bailey, a senior from Orem, was named to the first team offensive unit. Barefoot punter Jeff McComb, a senior from Henderson, Nev., was selected the WFC's first team punter and has been named to the team for College Division I. Kodak Bailey was named to the team for the second consecutive year. He was a first team choice last season. McComb kicked 42 times for 1,863 average. yards to establish his 44.4-yar- d Other 'Birds honored by the WFC include four second team offensive players. Tight end Ron Clement, a junior from Mesa, Ariz.; quarterback Chad Richard, a senior from Roosevelt; junior running back Thane Marshall, from Beaver and junior place kicker Herkey Marxen, from Las Vegas, Nev. The two second team defense players are interior lineman Ken Smith, a senior from Honolulu, Hawaii; and defensive back Dennis Wells, a junior from Moab. The also had two players receive honorable mention in linebacker Todd Olsen, from New Orleans and defensive back Pete Wahlheim, from Mesa, Ariz.. Both are graduating this spring. Clement was the leading pass receiver with 23 receptions for 364 yards. Richard led the 'Birds in total offense and broke four career offensive records. Marshall rushed for 1,008 yards. Marxen led the team in scoring by converting 27 of 28 PAT attempts and nine of 14 fieldgoal attempts for 54 points. Smith anchored the defensive line with an average of 6.1 tackes per game, also having five quarterback sacks. Wells averaged 4.5 tackles, returned 32 kickoffs for an average of 23.5 yards and led the team interceptions with six picks. Olsen was the team's leading tackier with an average of 12.0 per game. Wahlheim averaged 7.4 tackles from his strong safety spot and led the team with six passes broken up. long-standi- |
