According to Gordon Slack, director of the physical plant, the new lot is expected to add space for more than 300 cars. "They're still working on the design. Originally, the plans called for 329 spaces but changes will drop that down." To make space for the new parking lot, 14 houses on 800 West and 200 South will be moved or demolished. "All residences there have been sold to the college. Most residents have until June 1 to vacate. Some have already done so," said Slack. The actual construction work will be done in two phases. The first phase involves removing r (s ( Homes make way for parking ? . the homes and grading and leveling the land. The second phase will be the actual construction and paving of the lot. According to Slack, after the property was appraised to determine its value, the college paid over $900,000 to the previous residents. The total cost for the completed project is not available yet. "The bids for construction are expected to go out in the middle of June," said Slack. "These new lots will help relieve the parking problems at the Centrum. The parking there is simply inadequate." The lot will be laid out so that it will be useful for both the Centrum and the Stadium, reducing the congestion following sports and other events. "It will be a lighted and landscaped parking lot. Some of the trees will be preserved and so on. It will be a nice looking parking lot, not barren concrete," said Slack. Memory expert to present tips Scott Bornstein, leading authority, lecturer, and author in the field of memory training, language will discuss enrichment, and "The Fourth R Remembering: Mastering the Mind's Potential," in Thursday's Convocation presentation at 11 a.m. in the Auditorium. Son of internationally famous memory expert Arthur Bornstein, the guest lecturer has trained tens of thousands of professionals, executives, teachers, and students since 1975, telling them how to develop a superior memory and how to achieve extraordinary results on college and graduate level entrance exams. As president of Bornstein's Memory Improvement Programs and BestPrep, Bornstein has conducted memory programs for major universities, leading corporations, professional organizations, and schools and their staffs. In this presentation, the three "success secrets" for developing instant recall methods for names, faces, facts and figures will be discussed. Bornstein claims the average person uses between three and four percent of the mind's potential. "Since we are born with the ability to use much more of our brain, all we need to do is learn how," he says. te iJtt JJOD-ILEY- S RANCH WEAR BOOTS: Tony Lama Justin Acme Durango Nacona 52 N.
