The SUSC delegation came home with Utahs traveling PBL plaque as a result of winning the annual state leadership conference. Chi Alpha Chapters 27 delegates represented SUSC very well, said Chapter Advisor Doris Williamson. We only entered three events that we didnt place in. SUSCs Troy Olsen was named the state parliamentarian and elected to a position on the PBL Executive Committee. Kari Gardner will represent SUSC in Washington, D.C., in administrative assistant secretary competition. Another state winner, Ken Harvey will compete in Mr. Future Business Executive competition; while Olsen, and Terry Clark will compete in the team contest business decision making. Harvey, a graduating senior, finished first with Olsen in business decison making but can compete in only one national contest, said Williamson. Olsen also took second in accounting II, management and impromptu speaking. Also representing SUSC at the nationals will be Josefina Navarrete in marketing. Navarrete took third in the state management competition. SUSC will also be represented by Mark Pierce in economics. Pierce also placed fourth in management and fifth in business decision making (with Clark), and received honorable mention in business communications and Mr. Future Business Executive. Clark received an honorable , ; mention in business communications. Lane Taylor and Corrie Keele will represent Utah with two Weber State College students as members of Utahs parliamentary procedures team. Taylor won an honorable mention in management at the competition. SUSCs efforts in chapter reporting also paid off with trips to Washington, D.C., for Diane Young, Diane Stubbs, Suzanne Corry, Lane Taylor, and Keilani Lindsay. Corry finished third at the state contest in word processing machine transcription and fourth in business communications. Lindsay was third in administrative assistanttypist, and received honorable mention in accounting I and information management. Keele received honorable mention in information management. SUSC received other first places at the state level for contests in National Advisory Council Leadership, local chapter annual report, outstanding project, achievement in business advocacy, and for an annual PBL volleyball tournament. Terri Tubbs finished second in Ms. Future Business Teacher competition. Dan Jacobsen finished third in both marketing and Mr. Future Business Teacher competition. Lisa Willis was third in administrative assistant secretary. Ami Jo Barney took fourth in business law, and Allan Buethe finished fourth in Mr. Future Business Teacher competition. Kathie Griffin finished fifth in business communications and received honorable mention in word processingmachine transcription.
