Mann, who is a distinguished-artist-in-residenc- e at SUSC, is credited by cast member Liz Argus as having created a very challenging dance routine, even for the experienced dancer. BY JAMIE SWINGHOLM Theres one singular sensation floating around the SUSC theatre and dance department. The sensation is the premiere of the musical, A Chorus Line. TINICS Broadways longest running musical is finally available for use by colleges and other amatuer productions, and director Fred Adams looks at A Chorus Line as one of his greatest challenges. The program began with a piano medley performed by Nancy Lamb, then the stage darkened as the light came up the cast performed three rousing songs that were produced for the 7 first time in 1917: Strike up the Band, Fascinatin Rhythm, and I Got Rhythm. These three pieces were arranged by Dave Naylor. Amy Dalton accompanied Stacy Buchanan in Someone To Watch Over Me, a piece originally performed in the Imperial Theatre in 1927. Dalton then accompanied Ron Aden in the 1930 hit, Embraceable You, which is still popular today. Prelude I, the first of a set of three impromptu Coffman with Dalton accompanying entered the stage in trench coats and performed Foggy Day. Ive Got a Crush on You, was in a Broadway play that flopped, but was saved by Gershwin and later put into Strike Up the Band. Jackie Riddle-Jacksoand McKay Shields performed an enjoyable rendition of the song. The entire cast performed six songs from the 1935 version of Porgy and Bess. Aden and Sharonlee Gunn then reinacted the composing of S Wonderful from the 1927 play Funny Face. The evening then concluded with the last movement of the Piano Concerto performed by Hal K.
