Show The Tfumderfnrd Monday, April 16, 1984 Lord Asa Briggs of Lewes delivers the Fifth Annual Tanner Lecture on Human Values at Southern Utah State College Thursday, April 19, 1984 11 a.m., SUSC Auditorium Admission is free Asa Briggs of Lewes is Provost of Worcester College, and Chancellor of the British Open University. As a figure in Europe's educational arena, he serves as of the European Institute of Education in Paris and Chairman Chairman of the European Educational Research Trust in London. Lord Briggs travels internationally as a lecturer and consultant. He continues to reaffirm the academic integrity of the open university and to reinforce belief in the individual as an independent learner. As mentor and administrator. Lord Briggs has developed numerous programs in literature, history and human relations. To his credit is a tremendous library including electronic media, films and a wide variety of resource materials. By profession Lord Briggs is a historian who specializes in 19th centruy social and cultural history. Lord Briggs is the author of a definitive work entitled The History of Broadcasting in the United Kingdom and Governing the B.B.C. Lord The Tanner Lectures on Human Values were established in 1979 and are funded by the Tanner Trust for selected Utah colleges and universities. The purpose of the Lecture is to provide a forum advancing scholarly and scientific learning relative to human values. The Tanner Lectures are international and intercultural. They transcend racial, ethnic and national origins as well as religious and ideological distinctions. The Lecture is delivered annually at Southern Utah State College and thereafter may be published by Southern Utah State College and made available to those interested. The Tanner Lectures on Human Values is a nonprofit corporation administered by Southern Utah State College. The lectures are endowed by Obert C.
