Wo Glade Peterson and Claudia Ward, director and assistant director of the Utah Opera Company, will tell Convocation attendees that dreams can come true. Peterson. Ward to tell of dreams Glade Peterson and Claudia Ward, general director and assistant to the general director of the Utah Opera Company, will present the last lecture of winter quarter Convocation series. Peterson and Ward will be speaking on the topic of Dreams can come true. Peterson, a native Utahn, has sung in virtually every opera house in the world. His professional debut took place in 1958 in Amhurst, Massachusetts. He has since appeared in Zurich, Geneva, Paris, Hamburg, Berlin and is one of the very select few American tenors to have sung at La Scala in Milan, Italy. In 1975, Peterson made his debut at the Metropolitian Opera and the New York Times called him a find for the company. During his career, Peterson has sung over 1500 performances of 75 different roles and has worked with many of the top artists in opera. Peterson founded the Utah Opera Company in 1976 and is listed in "Whos Who in Opera and Great Singers of Our Time. In June of 1978, Peterson received an honorary doctorate degree from Southern Utah State College. Ward is a graduate of SUSC where she also taught private piano. She received her masters degree from Utah State University and she has taught choral and instrumental music in the Salt Lake City schools. Assistant to the general director of the Utah Opera Company, Ward also fills the position of chorus director, accompanist and administrator of the program. Ward schedules all other programs and acts as the resident photographer and historian. Ward says it is rewarding to work so hard doing so many different jobs and loving it. Opera is a new experience and the association I have with these people involved in the company means a great deal to me. I am so glad that Glade decided to return to Utah and share his dream with all of us. We are growing so fast, at times its difficult to keep up, Ward added.
