struggles have been made by a tow few persons to give it life character and permanent existence but through the lack ot necessary these parties have been much crippled in their efforts hitherto A company was formed some time ti melago jago but it remained almost latent until recently it now has a recognized 0 legal status and immediate steps will be taken to bring it and its object before the name and style of the concern is the ogden mining and iron manufacturing co it is now fully organized and incorporated the present officers of the company are joseph ident william hunt vice president thomas champney secretary and treasurer toe directors are george r F sealers seagers john dalton W S reed david thos robinson nod and geo W turner the ca capital ital stock will consist of one hundred thousand ten dollar shares a great number cf r f which are already taken and paid u up P the company now own considerable valti valuable atle property which will at an early carly date into requisition for the advancement of ane i interests of the concern thep have a large lare coat mine on morgan County which covers an area of I 1 20 acres of land A tunnel of one hundred and fifty six feet has been worked in the minehart mine part ly shaft t and partly sunk the vein is eight feet two hundred tons of the black diamonds have already been taken out A road has been built to this aau is now being improved for future travel to and from it may be here observed that the th property has been recently acquired by the company the company also possesses nine iron mines all of which have Is much needed here at th the present resent time to financially benefit the ogden people e ON FRIDAY night our popular brass band will give the first of a series of entertainments which will consist ot of several balls concerts etc the affair will come off in the union opera house and doubtless will be very enjoyable to those who attend there is no fear as to the patronage as these musical men are popular with all classes of citizens in ogden who appreciate preci ate their talents and their readiness to turn out to entertain them on all public occasions as well as at other times this band is the oldest institution of the kind in the county and its organization dates back to an early date in the history of ogden city SOME OF OUR merchants are doing a big bi shipping business bu biness in several de cie port ments of trade la in the furniture line line J boyle co and E stratford as son they thay receive large consignments consign ments which are ac scarcely arcely unloaded before they are again transported to other parts of the north and west to their numerous patrons boyle co are at the head of this branch of agdens com commerce meree they began in wa 1872 and by persistence punctuality and business tact and talents have steadily increased until they have built up an immense trade which they find remunerative stratford and sons patronage is increasing gradually and surely the patronage of these houses reaches through idaho and montana in the norah as wi 11 as in other parts of adjoining territories and states all our merchants wear a more cheerful I 1 than they did a
