concerning the dreadful accident which deprived one of our young men brother joseph alonzo huntsman of his life early on wednesday last the 1 ith dinst six riz viz joseph alonzo huntsman D lat callister wesly IV dame chas mace W H ring kins and J hawley 11 awley with team proceeded to the cedar mountain to shoot rabbits they had been out oat several hours and considering it time to return were all in the wagon except WW dame who had bad taken passage in another team and und were driving towards home when brabbit ai abbit was observed some little distance aw away ay to the left of the wagon brother J JA A huntsman exclaimed shoot it Whre whereupon upon brother W kikm H king and jacob hawley who occupied the rear seat arose to their teet andr and alsed raised their guns to tire fire upon upun rising brother W 11 II king said 1 I will shoot 11 simultaneously Simul I 1 with the firing odthe of the guns by the aforesaid brother huntsman the deceased raised to the level jevel of the guns inclining his body to the left and the charge from the gun held by W wil wll 11 ein kin king eing struck the side of his head near to the centre blowing off a portion of the skull and leaving the brain exposed fragments of the scalp was subsequently found as far as two yards from fron the place where the accident happened tills move on the part of man was was unexpected from tho the fact that he and another or two having rifles rifled were to shoot suche ame as should be too far for the shot gunners and none other such anch arrangements havin having been thoroughly understood the accident occurred early la the afternoon and two hours lat erthe unfortunate young man was brought home to his grief stricken family unconscious yet not quite dead ho hopes s were entertained by some that his capacity ity several elders made remarks calculated to enlarge the heart lift up the droop drooping inc inz spirits and comfort with hope the s sorrowing or rowing relatives and friends previous to the funeral the wife parents brothers sisters and other relatives had bad sih sig signed ried tied the following resolutions which were read by bishop smith to the meeting and adopted by vote constant regret occasioned the said brother W 11 II kin kins because of the said unfortunate accident therefore we the undersigned undersigner under signed upon this public occasion wish to offer the the tears and sobs of many people the last sad rites were performed which consigned a good young man to his last resting place lac I 1 e bral brother ther joseph alonzo gru huntsman nt sinan was born january 1862 in fillmore utah he was the third son of gabrlel gabriel and eunis huntsman huntman aftel after attaining his majority he seemed desirous of informing himself morally and intellectually and latterly was studying with a view to beco becoming a usef useful ul member of society he frequently expressed a wish abish that be he soon be called on a mission as by such labo labors S his qualifications for usefulness might be increased he was a kind and tender husband nus band and possessed many qualities of heart and brain that endeared him to hosts of bf friends besides a large circle of immediate relatives blotner huntsman left a wife of tender years and delicate health to mourn his loss it is to be hoped that he who is a husband to the widow and a father to the fatherless will pour the balm of healing into her wounded and bleeding heart it is but just and p proper rc per in concluding this article to set se t forth orth f the generous prompt and noble parts enacted by men of all classes and conditions irrespective of party sect or creed during the terrible hours of trial which disqualified the family of the deceased from acting in their own behalf telegrams were sent and teams promptly forwarded for the physician and driven too out regard to horseflesh and our riders liders flew like the wind to ether settlements north to arrange for proper changes of horses to convey the physician with all ill speed to the scene of trouble funeral arrangements in all their details were also thoughtfully considered planned and carried into effect in short hort all things
