Show tile TIIE SKATING RINK AGAIN IT is not nece necessary for us to make an apology for again making mention of the skating pavilion we have several times condemned it as a dangerous pitfall for the youth of both sexes bu more especially young women we are ratified gratified to be in a position to state that the attitude we have assumed regarding it Is now generally unqualifiedly endorsed by the entire thoughtful and respectable portion of the community on this subject we here insert a communication received this morning from a gentleman of this city our crift indignation nation has long iong been boll ul proceedings which have f from rom time to time taken place in she ahe skating rink and now it is overflowing and we feel in duty bound to raise our voice in protest and warning to parents who have daughters who frequent that place night after af ter night have we noted acquaintanceships acquaintance ships formed i that place by parties who would blush for shame if their names were given to the public we have noticed young ladies escorted home bv persons with whom they flirted during the evening and of whose characters they knew absolutely nothing can a any ny possible good come com from ro this A after aften f t er very careful observation we have found that a majority of the sterner se sex X who attend are street men and soldiers boldic r s in citizens dress we know of many young ladies who nial nightly itly in meet acet such men as the above at divers places all brought about by flirtations in the skating rink parents would do well to note this and surely they could find better places of amusement for their daughters ll 11 our correspondent does not paint the picture in c colors olor s a particle too strong lie ile tells the solid truth it appears that the infamous resort has been almost totally abandoned by the members of the male sex of any degree of respectability but not a few of the daughters dau aters of our respectable citizens still fre frequent quentin quen tit it like moths attracted by the flicker and glare of a flam ilam ethey hover around the point of danger until in their giddy unthinking courso course they are caught in the trap of irr etrel vable vahle ahle ahie ruin the status of the pavilion Is now of such a character that young women cannot frequent it and preserve their names f from rom at least the taint of suspicion if nothing more parents should take the advice we have several times given now repeated by our correspondent pon dent and keep their daughters from going to such places |
