Show A CALAMITY AT KANAB GREAM great DAMAGE DONE MINE BY A r mod WOD the following dispatch came over the wires of the deseret telegraph today to day from kanab kane rane county yesterday afternoon on at the heaviest flood known in this part of the country came down the kanab canyon fhe force of the water was P to po o great that of earth as large as a common hoube house floated down the stream with willows detill standing upright the damage cannot as yet be tie estimated all the wheat in the tho upper field is washed away the water covered the entire field from fouce feuce to fence the stream at that point being one mile wide the wheat in the lower field is mostly safe which Is only about one sixth of the whole crop in the canyon it has washed a channel thirty to forty feet below the former bed of ne the creek A number of cattle were washed away and drowned no lives are reported lost A number of re apers mowers hay hav rakes and wagons were washid washed away some of the lower lots ot of the town were considerably dabag ed all the farming and meadow land in tho the canyon is destroyed the telegraph line me in the canyon is believed to be m mostly torn away awny |
