Show 3 Stakes in U.S. Are Reorganized RICKS COLLEGE 1ST Laere Arnold Ricks, first counselor, was sustained as president of the Ricks College First (Idaho) Strke, April 29, 1973. Named as counselors were two faculty members, Melvin Daines Griffeth and Kenneth Max Papenfuss. Pres. Ricks succeeds Pres. Joseph W. Stucki, who was released. Elder Ezra Taft Benson of the Council of the Twelve presided at the conference with Elder Harold R. Beyer, Regional Representative of the Twelve, assisting. Pres. Ricks was born March 21, 1915 in Rexburg, Idaho, a son X)f Peter Jepp-seand Emily E. Arnold Ricks. He married Lucille Johnson, also of Rexburg, and they have seven children. Ho has served as a missionary in the Northern States Mission, in the presidency of a stake YMMIA, as a member of the high council in two stakes, and as a counselor in two stake presidencies. He studied at Ricks College and is engaged in farming and in business. Pres. Griffeth was torn Aug. 30, 1936 in Fairview, Idaho, a son of Melvin Pratt and Lois Sylvia Daines Griffeth. He married Rama Drury of Fairview, Idaho, and they have four children. He has served as branch president, stake executive secretary and as bishop. He was graduated from Utah State University with a B.S. degree and received the M.E. degree from University of Washington and did graduate study at University of Minnesota. He is an instructor at Ricks College. n Pres. Papenfuss was born July 21, Brigham City, Utah, a son of C. H. and Katherine LaVerne Willes Papenfuss. He married Laida Hudson of St. 1932, in Ignatius. He received the B.A. degree at the University of Montana, as veil as the M Ed. degree and did graduate study at Utah State University. RICKS COLLEGE 2ND Floyd Melv in Hammond, first counselor, was installed as president of the Ricks College Second (Idaho) Stake, April 29, 1973, at the regular quarterly conference of that stake, with Elder Ezra Taft Benson of the Council of the Twelve presiding, assisted by Elder Harold R. Boyer, Regional Representative. Sustained as counselors were Richard E. Bird and Robert M. Wilkes, both faculty members at Ricks. Pres. Hamm aid was born Dec. 19, 1933 at Blackfo t, Idaho, a son of Floyd Milton (deceased) and Ruby Hoge Hammond. He married Bonnie Sellers of Rexburg, Idaho, and they have five children. He has served as a missionary in the Spanish-America- n Mission, as bishop and as a counselor in the stake presidency. He earned the B.A. degree at Ricks College and Brigham Young University and studied at the University of Colorado. He is professor of religion at Ricks College. Pres. Bird was born Sept. 19, 1937 in Glendale, Ariz., a son of Eldred Holloway and Edith Laidlaw Bird. He married Beth Clark of Sugar City, Idaho and they have four children. He married Estella Woodruff, of Ilolladay, Utah, and they have four children. Presently, he is a member of the Ricks College faculty and also teaches in seminary and is an instructor in the Institute of Religion. NORTH CAROLINA STAKE Larry Lionel Kendrick, president of the Greenville (N.C.) Branch, w'as set apart as president of the North Carolina Stake by Elder Thomas S. Monson on May 20, 1973. Elder Monson was assisted by Elder Robert W. Barker, Regional Representative of the Twelve. Pres. Kendrick called as his counselors, Joseph Dawson Grant, first counselor, and Jearl T. Price, second counselor. Pres. Grant was serving as first counselor in the Goldsboro Ward bishopric, and Pres. Price was president of the stake Aaronic Priesthood MIA. Pres. Kendrick, who succeeds Pres. L. Lionel Kendrick 2nd Stake North Carolina ecil E. Reese,. is a native of Baton Rouge, La. He was born Sept. 19, 1931. to Bonnie D. and the late Edna Forbes Kendrick. He married Myrtis Noble of Pride, La., on Aug. 16, 1932. They have four children. Pres. Kendrick received his B.S., M.S. and Ed.D. degrees from Louisiana State University. He is associate professor and director of regional drug prograni at East Carolina University. He has served as a counselor in a bishopric twice, as a stake Sunday School president, and as counselor in the branch presidency. Pres. Grant was born to William Dawson and Littie Vaker Wiggins Grant on May 19, 1927 in Goldsboro, N.C. He married Phyllis Aileen Griffin of Savona. N.Y. on July 26, 1951. They have two children. He has served as a counselor and president in a branch, and as both second and first counselor in a bishopric. lie is in the real estate business. Pres. Price is a native of Snow Hill, N.C. He was born July 3, 1933, a son of Haywood and Minnie Caroline Beamon Price. He married Peggy Ann Sowers on Dec. 15, 1952. They have five children. All of his church work since 1962 has been on a stake basis, serving as clerk, on a mission, executive secretary and as Aaronic Priesthood MIA general secretary.
