And he begins his academic speaking career tms Friday (25) at the baccalaureate service of Westminster College At the commencement exercises Saturday (26) morning m Hansen Stadium, Westminster College will confer upon the famed singer an honoraiy doctorate. Westminster College was given national attention last year when it changed its baccalaureate service from the traditional service at which a sermon is delivered to a concert by the Utah Symphony Orchestra conducted by Maurice Abravanel. At the graduation exercise of the class of 1972, an honorary doctorate degree was conferred on Mr. Abravanel. At the Westminster College baccalaureate this Friday in Payne Gym, the program will in include, addition to Mr. Peerce's address, a performances by Yoshi Ito, Affiliated Artists the Westminster Stage Band that will be directed by I, add and oilur iMcIntosh, soprano-in-residenc- nstrumental and choral ensembles. Jan Peerce is no stranger to Utah music buffs though he will be new probably to most of the members of the graduating class. He has not appeared here in concert for a decade.
