High in the list must be the of Glade himself to perform both in the Tabernacle and also with the Utah Symphony and Mr. Abravanel, And it was a dream of his large circle of kith and kin and an even larger circle of friends and admirers. No doubt many persons played important parts, but surely none more than Glade himself and Mr. Abravanel. For me there was only one sad note (no pun) and that was that Glades wife, Marlene, and his children in Zurich could not be here, and that his great admirer, his father, died unexpectedly three weeks ago. All of them deserved to be a part of Glades greatest Utah and hometown triumph. That Glade Peterson, leading tenor of the Zurich Opera for the past dozen seasons where he has sung more than 600 performances, still commands a large and adoring Utah public as was attested by the seemingly capacity Tabernacle audience that was on hand for his program of Get ready for summer fashion . . . and save V-- Suits a collection of doubleknit suits polyester that's hard to beat for s savings and fine quality. The prolonged applause that greeted his entrance every time he came on stage was the kind reserved for only a few beloved artists. The audience, or portions of it, repeatedly stood in enthusiasm, and after his lnog and vocally demanding program repeated the final munber as an encore and it still seemed hardly enough to meet the insatiable demand. It is difficult to realize that the Glade Petefson who sang in the early operas directed by Carlos Alexander in South High and East High auditoriums, and Kingsbury Hall, back in the 1950s is the same singer that we heard last night. It shows how much drive, and work, and are required to go to to say nothing of the top the native talent that is also required. Glade sang everything with taste and artistry. The range of his beautiful voice is extensive, and he always had all the tone he needed. perser-veranc- K 39-4- 42-4- Comp, value Lightweight wheels 1 15.00 79.95 for boys & girls from A.M.F. His gifts, one would say, as disclosed last night, were primarily dramatic, and throughout his taxing arias, he displayed unexpected intensity of feeling. In addition to Glades eight numbers, Mr. Abravanel conducted the Utah Symphony insix numbers, all of them orchestral operatic excerpts. Each of them ta- exception culd be classed as gassers, for sure. exciting They were also enthusiastically received. But the concert was really Glades, and no singer could have had a more sympathetic callabo-rato- r and understanding than he had in Maurice ? Abravanel. It was a collaboration that was on e of the pleasures of the evening. Mr. Abravanel knew just where he stood with Mr. Abravanel. And surely after last nights concert, Glade stands still higher.
