It does have its ups and admits Don Cook, downs, but we love it. She is the of the impressive mother Cook Family, the only professional skating family in the country. (They are in Salt Lake this week with the Ice Follies.) Completing the team: her husband Cal; Melanie, 12; and the twins Kris and Kelly, 11. And dont forget Juliette, the gray poodle who travels with the family. Skating has been a family affair for the Cooks for about seven years. After we got married, though, we decided to retire . . to have a family . . . buy a house. One day we went to the revue and met our He told us they were looking for a family act. We worked one up and joined the show. ice Working one up was not as easy as it sounds, though. The children had never ice skated before. My husband was teaching skating, so he taught them. The boys were four at the time, Melanie 17 months older. They went along with the company to South America to break in their act. We hesitated because of the children, their schooling and all, said Cal Cook. We decided to try it for a year. Besides skating they enjoy playing tennis, football, ping pong, swimming. They are learning to ski. When we have problems we can sit down and discuss them at lunch, added Cal. We do have problems, but they are normal things. Were able to keep our eye on the kids pretty well.
