Show South America To 3 more mission presidents called Three more mission presidents were recently called by the First Presidency to preside over missions in South America. They are: MARION C. ROBINSON Marion Carl Robinson, a former bishop in the Dublan 1st Ward, Colonia Juarez Mexico Stake, will head the Uruguay Montevideo Mission, replacing Elder Gene R. Cook of the First Quorum of the Seventy. The new mission president was bom in Colonia Dublan, Mexico, a son of John B. and Ethel Taylor Robinson. He married Marene Wood Aug. 26, 1946, in the Salt Lake Temple and they are parents of eight children. A farmer and rancher in Mexico, Pres. Robinson served in the Church as a branch presidents counselor, president of two branches, seventies quorum president, bishop and district president. Sister Robinson was bom in Colonia Juarez, Mexico, to Enos F. and Martha A. Sevey Wood. She ed e was a missionary in Mexico before her and later served as a YWMLA president, marriage, ward and district Relief Society president and as a seminary teacher. full-tim- BRUCE M. GIBSON Bruce Melvin Gibson, 56, a school superintendent in St. David, Ariz., will preside over the Chile Santiago South Mission. He succeeds Elder William R. Bradford, also of the First Quorum of the Seventy. Pres. Gibson was bom in Snowflake, Ariz., to Bernard E. and Grace Flake Gibson. He married Rowene Robinson March 18, 1944, and they have seven children. His past Church positions include high councilor, stake presidents counselor and president of the Southern Arizona Stake. He received his bachelors degree from the University of Arizona and has been superintendent of St. David Unified Schools for eight years. Sister Gibson was bom in Colonia Juarez, to John B. and Ethel Taylor Robinson. She served a two-yemission in Mexico, and was also a YWMIA president, ar Elder Monson elected Deseret News president Elder Thomas S. Monson of the Council of the Twelve has been elected president and chairman of the board of the Deseret News Publishing Co., which is owned by the Church. The Church News is the weekly Saturday supplement of the Deseret News, the oldest existing newspaper in the West. In addition to the newspaper, the publishing company also owns the Deseret Press, the largest commercial printing plant in the Mountain West. Elder Monson, who has been vice chairman of the board for the past six years, succeeds Elder Gordon B. Hinckley, also of the Council of the Twelve, who has been president and board chairman for six years. Elder James E. Faust of the Presidency of the First Quroum of the Seventy and supervisor of the Brazil-Urugua- y Area, was elected vice chairman of the board. IRENEO FROL Ireneo Frol, 43, an area supervisor for Church construction in Uruguay, will be president of the Argentina Buenos Aires South Mission. He succeeds Pres. Juan Carlos Avila. He was bora in Podgrad, Yugoslavia, a son of Juan and Irene G. deVahl Frol. He is a convert to the Church and was baptized March 23, 1960, in Montevideo, Uruguay. He married Marta V. Matteazzi July 18, 1964, and they are parents of five children. Pres. Frol, who studied electrical technology in Argentina, served as a district councilor, high councilor, mission executive secretary, stake mission president and mission presidents counselor. Sister Frol was bom in Venado Tuerto, Argentina to Jose and Berta L. Bozicovich de Matteazzi. She was e a missionary in Argentina, a district YWMIA president, mission YWMIA secretary and Primary president. full-tim- Brazilian receives call as Regional Representative of 1 2 Walter Spat, former president of the Sao Paulo Brazil Stake, has been called by the First Presidency as a Regional Representative of the Twelve. He was assigned to represent the Curitiba and Sao Paulo South regions of the Church in v. VI Brazil. Elder Spat, 52, was bom in Stimpfach, Germany. A convert to the Church, he was baptized March 12, 1950. He married Edith Altmann in June 1946, and they have two children. The new Regional Represen- Elder Thomas S.
