When the tall, former police lieutenant ran successfully for mayor four years ago, color was an issue. The word was spread by foes that blacks would take over City Hall and empty the city treasury into the ghettos. Now, in 1977, Bradley, a former track star at UCLA whose father was a sharecropper in Texas, has won business support he never had before. Bradleys contributors include William French former Smith, Gov. Ronald Reagans lawyer and confidant, and Henry Salvatori, a millionaire Reoilman and long-tim- e publican contributor. And the biggest issue being raised by Bradleys 11 challengers, led by state Sen. Alan Robbins, is that Bradley hasnt done much. They say the Democratic mayor is too cozy with downtown business interests and has neglected Los Angeles farflung suburban neighborhoods.
