excuse for the following davis county has been particularly favored the past winter and the present spring in the number of writing classes that have been beell established in several of the tho settlements for the study of what I 1 think proper to call one of the fine arts writing conducted by prof A J phelps of bountiful who is generally pronounced a very successful teacher heis hels he is teaching a class of about 70 pupils in farmington another class in centreville Cen treville and a second term classow class of about 80 pupils in bountiful he expects to bei be called upon to take uina ulna ap a second class in farmington as soon as the present term expires such is the satisfaction he has given iven but t the e above is only a part of what I 1 wish to tell about to interest his classes he has cho chosen sen gen a novel way of his own among other things he has had them do and for which he has given premiums is is the transposition of words or givIn gout a word for competition from which to produce the greatest num number berof of othe words the word be has chosen to give this class throughout the county is the word startle mr gi crook and mr G A lincoln of bountiful produced each 92 words daniel T miller of this place took the premium for producing words while walter walker walter q r produced 14 they being I 1 the only two out of 1 30 pupils throughout the county who produced over words veli vell well t think the result must certainly ua be in i n the tho artof art of writing fiting that hat dahs DAOs county will conle conic ont ahead I 1 will j say bay
