Raymond Burr, who plays the title role, says he would like to move around to other locations for filming Ironside, but other than that he is satisfied with th series. We have a fine cast, he adds. Don Galloway. Barbara Anderson and Don Mitchell are getting better all the time. I couldnt do the show without them. Not only that, but I wouldnt do the show without them. Tney are like member. of my own family. Although Burr is opposed to two- - and thiee-par- t episodes on television. Ironside will this year. have a I was interested in seeing it. he said, because I'm one of those persons who I can't stand never liked serials in magazines. I never likeu continued-next-two-part- s. tt things. I used to save all copies of a magazme with serials and then sit down, when I had them all collected, and read the continued stories. I Ironside hoj this two-paweek rt works. Burr sajs he has heard 0 some viewers believe he is actually paralyzed and that Ironside was written just for him when he was incapacitated. I consider those comhe said. ments flattery, Ive been called a pei .'action is t. If viewers think I act paralyzed for a part where I am paralyzed, w'ell, so be it. Actually, I visited a hospital for the Paralyzed Veterans of America. I studied their behavior. I observed their movements and actions. I have hied to explore all the things humanly possible for a human being to do in a wheelchair, and Ive tried to think like a person in that position. Right now. Burr is recovering from a fever he caught while on one of his 12 trips to Vietnam. It hits me about once even' three weeks, and I could work only two hours at a stretch at the end of last season. Burr who travels around to universities, student groups and parent groups all over the country, says he is taking a somewhat more sober view of things than he was a few years ago. ItS inevitable, he says, that we are in for change. The tiling I like about what is happening today is not only the young people, but the people who are paying attention to them. There are people who are beginning to listen to the young people, and what they are talking about is a new honesty. 1 think we are in for some difficult times, but I think it will be a change for the good. We have the opportunity of still being In the greatest country in the world. I have as we all nave, an investment in this country, of my love, my interest, my time, my life in fact, and I don t want to see it go down the drain. Burr, a native of Canada, lives in Fiji whenever he is able to break away from the Ironside set. He has an orchid business on the island which he owns, and has a cattle ranch. He also supports 20 foster children. , , . o This 'n That is opening a Jim MacArthur, star When in Hawaii. and ice of cream restaurants parlors string the series ends, he will be a business tycoon. Bob Stack has been able to change his manner of living because of his work on Name of the Game. When he was a child, he did a lot of traveling with his parents. I wanted to give my own children a more settled life, he says. He has . been able to do that with The Untouchables, 12 OClock High and the current series.
