George Nelson, State Univ- retired ersith athletic trainer and estling coach, died Aug. 7, 1970, just before midnight in a Logan hospital of causes incident to age. Nelson was trainer for 38 years at USU before his 1958 State's retirement. Utah George Nelson fieldhouse bore his name. A professional wrestling great, Nelson was born Jergen Nielson, Aug. 29. 1890, in Larvik, Norway, son of Julius and Lena Sharp Nielson. As a member of the city fire department, he was billed in local wrestling as the "Fighting Fireman." The George Nelson Field. house was named after the Aggie trainer in February 1956. Nelson retired as trainer at USU on April 1, 1938. He instayed on as a part-timstructor in wrestling and boxing in the Physical Education Department for several years.
