The organizer of this went purport to the broadening their horizons When women do not yet have equal rights or the right to control their own bodies when the campus health services and the Women’s Resource Center do not meet our needs leaders of women’s organizations are meeting to discuss “having fits” “caring for carpets” and “special diets”?! ! We feel that there are issues of higher priority effecting women today Oct $100 a month A look at what Nolan 14-1- Johnson ASUSU president takes in during the year breaks down as follows: $900 in salary $495 in tuition and fees which comes to $1395 and that is excluding all free tickets and game room privileges Now of course you will hear "but we work so hard for the student's best interests" I say crap Those of you who know me or know of me know that spent two years working with student government before coming to Student Life know what goes into student government in the way of work see a trend in student government to try and exclude all but the pro's see more and more psuedo junior policitians mimicking their older counter parts It wasn't always this way can remember a time when officers worked for nothing officers like Rex Lund Darrell Borrowman Doug Jensen and Ralph Walker have talked with several of these former officers and they agree with me When Ralph Nader needed more money because he was married he took work study he didn't try to raise his own pay pay that come from those he convinced he wanted to serve It is true that this raise came last year but at that time there were three officers who were hoping for reelection to some post What am saying is that as a student can't remember anyone asking me what thought about a raise Maybe was in the bathroom at the time and they asked you about it but never heard a thing think that this should be changed and changed now It breaks my heart to see some of the things that are going on in an institution feel so strongly about feel that we have a chance to do great things through our student government but instead of students drifting away from student government it is the other way around am sorry but guess sometimes just want for those in student government to be more than they really are I I I I I 511-44-88- 94 115-44-88- 94 128-44-39- 78 475-70-91- 69 327-40-74- 52 323-38-20- Editor Student Life: Student evaluation can be valuable Certainly there are uncontrollable variables which tend to destory the validity of some questions on the evaluation form but this does not reduce the desireability of the concept as a whole Misleading questions should be made more specific I I 561-68-48- 28 Evolutions revisited I I I I distinct question forms could I I Frank Coats Writer — Editorial Staff Reporters Cindy Ford Editor Pauline Summers Managing Editor Doug McCulloch News Editor Kent Perry Feature Editor Marsha Bowen Fine Arts Editor Kim Dopp Sports Editor Steve Stout Woman's Sports Marti Raymond Senior Writers Photo Editor Allan Swainston Susan Hodgson Lyn Smith Lila Frank Coats Photographer Tim Marzolf Cooley Dave Howell Linda Perry Jay Wamsley Kent Lauer ex- ternalities Most students can limit the effect of those externalities in their answers to question such as “Does the teacher emphasize points of importance? e Does organize lectures to he-sh- facilitate memory or taking?” In evaluating note- textbooks the questions might desig- nate definite areas for example clarity of explanation organi- zation and author’s use of references to aid students in finding additional reading One does nc need to be an expert on the iDject matter to know that a text is haphazardly organized Since most college students have some intellectual ” ability they can diagnose into specific causes and disregard the factors not appropriate to the evaulation I don’t think the serious students are looking' for a comic book' Test" evaluation too can be dissected into relevant and revealing questions As to I I conditions” as distracting “bore-dome- Linda Platt Susan Cole Sara Devins Bobbie Hansen - Bonnie Beaty Judith Eisen David Brook I I even be designed to apply to various types of classes RayHeidt in his Oct 3 article listed "time of day” and “room Business Staff Business Manager Steve Leggett Ad Salesperson Cheri Powers Secretary Kimi Eyre File Clerk Maggie Leicht tenure although the overwhelming majority of professors I have been in contact with are responsive to student comments are all teachers?
