illegal activities as mayor resigned his position on August 16 Perry’s resignation came after the Mayor came to the decision that his duties as Mayor and his position as the chairman of the board of First National Bank could make him guilty of “Conflict of interest” charges Perry served 16 months as interim mayor before his resignation He said he realized his actions were “Questionable” and that he was “sorry” County attorney Burton Harris chief prosecutor of the case said that “We’re not accusing him (Perry) I commend him for recognizing his error” Perry pled guilty before Logan City Judge Zachary Champlain and was fined $200 The maximum sentence under the law is $299 and six months in jail Perry did not receive any jail sentence Ernest G Earl 72 who once ran for the position as mayor and lost was appointed by the two commissioners Russel Fjeldsted ' Some changes have been made in student parking areas over the summer that should be noted by new and returning students In order to make visitor parking more easily accessible a new parking lot has been designated as the visitor’s parking lot It is located north of the University Center at the location of an old student parking installed University officials have asked the Logan City Animal Control Officer to patrol the University campus and all unlicensed and unleased animals will face possibility of prosecution according to the Animal Control office Land north of Romney Stadium has been deleted from North Logan and annexed to Logan through court proceedings this summer The change was made to insure better fire protection and water service The lot formerly designated visitor parking lot has now been authorized as a student lot with information replace the which has years the entrance just east of the new visitor toll lot The road directly south of the University Center is being closed off to vehicle traffic and will be landscaped between the UC and the Widstoe chemistry building Richard Swenson USU vice provost said the changes will not affect the number of spaces studentshave but will facilitate visitor parking Once again registration plagues new students at USU This familiar scene is not one procedures This will be the last day registration will take place in the Fieldhouse Students who completed spring in the schedules should their completed pick up quarter Fieldhouse according to an alphabetical schedule (listed pre-registrati- below) Students who wish to make changes in their schedules may do so by using the proper section of their schedule forms before they pay their fees Students who did not go through should pick up their packets also according to the schedule and go through registration in the Fieldhouse Students arriving later than today should pick up their packets in room six of Old Main consult their advisor and make their class reservations in the deans’ offices of the different departments They should then go Main 106 to have their packets checked
