Show Page 8 April 11 1973 mpics beginning Friday The Bridgerland Special Olympics will be held this weekend at Utah State beginning at 3 pm Friday afternoon with a t social for the participants and ending at 3 pm Saturday with closing ceremonies and awarding of prizes Participants include physically or handicapped mentally children from ages 5 on up They will compete in a variety of including swimming and track and field events After the opening social contestants will attend a picnic in back of the LDS Institute There will also be an evening program and entertainment After breakfast at high rise and cafeteria opening the swimming ceremonies events will begin in the small pool in the HPER building Parwill attend a clinic in ticipants Gym number 3 of the HPER building and then have lunch The children will then parade from the Edith Bowen School down Seventh North turn right down Eighth East and march past the fraternity houses to the track The afternoon will be spent conducting the track and field events and the closing eremonies The public is invited to attend the parade and competition This year’s Special Olympics A young girl was sponsored jointly by VOICE the USU Student Chapter of the Council for Exceptional Children and the Logan Jaycees Chairmen included Ruth Gull as the Area Coordinator Mike Pankow swimming Doug Oldroyd track and field David Leo HPER consultant Chris Erni VOICE chairman and Carolyn Winters yA w ev-ne- ts -- ' : - - ' - !s 4 ' ' i '?
