For wo must honeslly confess that we were beaten fairly and squarely and by a much lighter team which has had about the same training that our men have received The game though a trifle rough at times was fast free from unnecessary wrangling and very interesting The Salt Lake boys seemed to be in better physical condition thar our men and played a calmer more certain game In trying to account for our stramre defeat we must remember that it is highly unfair to base one’s permanent judgement on tin4 preliminary work of a team just as it is unfair to judge an army by its actions the fir'd time it L under fire Certain dd'ccts- M'hicli seemed very glaring Satin day may reasonably be ascribed to stage fright and to of an equally - over-confiden- Our men went into the game a wee bit sure of the outcome and mIuii they Mere played oil their feet during the first few minutes of play they became excited nnd did not settle down completely until the end of the second half The visitors were much swifter than our men especially in exchanging the ball and in traveling from uoal to goal Again and again their speed puzzled our men Moreover tin high school boys made fi ner fumbles and fen’er frantic tries for goal from long distance- - But we are certain that the Aggies will learn to hang on to the ball before long and to be more accurate The chief advantage of our opponents Mas their excellent team play They played into each oth |
