Spring Poem not-so-sub- tle byGwenApperle There is a time of year which comes between The frozen routine of school And the hot excitement of summer; It is the death of cold times past And the birth of millions of new lives. A warm breeze gently floats our thoughts outdoors; We are young, happy, carefree, and fresh, And we must run and run to release our '.joy. All the beauty of nature and the joy of love are ours And our eyes are filled with the brightness of hope. Spring SringS Motivated by the subtleness of spirit in the springtime air, and the suggestion of one poetry teacher, we have with us today a few of the efforts of this year's crop of sprung, oops, I mean spring, poets. Lest you get the idea that they all sound alike, let us explain to you the procedure used: Each person wrote down one statement of the way spring effected him, what spring meant to him, the feeling of spring, etc. These were all read aloud in class and each person chose eight or nine related statements and was to write a poem from them. (Unfortunately, some of the choicest ones such as Spring gives me a nice, warm oozy feeling all through my overgrown, fat body," and Spring is a dry martini," had to be discarded because they were a little hard to work into a poem of this particular mood. However, the final products were greatly edited. Some found it necessary to start all over. Anyway, here are some of the Look poems to add to your scrapbook. on these works, ye Mighty, and dispair." by Karen Tiezen Spring brings a new freshness and happiness a new thought a new time for free movement a new warm oozy feeling and a new endurance for all things Broken shackles of frozen routines appear Ah, Spring! in the new faces of life.
