The growth and change that our campus has accomplished in the last year were gratifying to be around. The new library, the new paint, the new labs, the new ideas, all gave Westminster students more than just a prettier school. They gave us more justification for the pride in campus functions. This does not mean that WC does not have the traditions that have been developed through the past. It only means that the College is not afraid to accept better ways as they come along. Controversial subjects are always the best news and this years Parson staff welcomes you to make your opinion known. Inclined? of us, tempor- arily at least, with that high resolution of doing it better, this time., For the freshman, it will bear the Class of 1970 over the fervent perversities inflicted on them by the most recent converts to sophomorics. It lightens the burdens of the years for the seniors, and, best of all, it annually gives the good teacher fresh faith in the ancient mystery of learning. But a good beginning and a determination to do it better are only part of the process of reaching ones goal. We feel that the Big Brother Big Sister program will be of special assistance to the freshmen in helping to orient them to the Customs of the Campus. Again on behalf of your Senior Class Officers WELCOME to the new Westminster Class of The Big Sibling Program Beneficial There are many new acquaintances that you will be making during the next few months. Probably all of them will make you more aware in one way or another, but for the present time the most beneficial friend you can have is your big brother or your big sister. The Big Sibling program is designed to help you become better acquainted with the ideas, customs, and purposes of our school, as well as the helpful plus you receive from knowing one of the upperclassmen who may save your life during Initiation Week. (You will most likely be called upon to describe in detail what your big sibling looks like, acts like, so when you get to know he,r or him, pay attention!) The friendship you make from this relationship can be very profitable and lasting. Dont waste the opportunity. Investigate The Young Republicans of Westminster College was founded in 1959. The club works closely with the Utah Republican Party. Occasionally the group brings in political speakers for programs on campus. In addition the club also sponsors social events. For the most part we Young Republicans are opposed to the present socialistic trend of government and we stand firm, uncompromising foreign policy against the Communists. We will have an organizational meeting early in the fall for the purpose of electing new officers and to draw up club plans for the coming year- We welcome new members and would like to extend a special welcome to Freshmen and new students. - |
