Show The Salt Lake Tribune, Sunday, December 29, 4 1968 jp Ann I.amlcrs Wavy Dear years Hair No Marital Bait Ann lamrier: I am 24 old and all my girl friends are married and have daied loads of children. puss hut the ones I wanted to mairy never asked me and the ones who did ask, I didnt want. Three months ago I met He has gorgeous Lionel. wavy hair, great sideburns, and he's built like a Greek god. Up has been begging me to aerept his ring but I have some doubts about him that are holding me back. Please Ie tell me if I am being too critical. After all, nobodys perfect. Here are my complaints: (1) When Lionel drinks a little too much, he forgets little details like where he parked his car, where he left his wallet and wdiere he lives. (2) He changes jobs a lot because he is so smart he gets bored doing the same thing day after day and needs a new challenge. (3) He got into a bad busi- ness deal with his brother (not his fault) and his is looking for him, also his former landlady and the sher-if- f. This is why he cant have listed phone number right now. Before you say he is no good, Ann, remember he was honest enough to tell me the RED CROSS SHOE I STORE truth. Lionel says if I marry him he will cut his drinking down to weekends only and be a perfect husband. I think we could make It, Ann. Do you? QUINTELLA a Dear Quin: Congratulations an offer for marriage from lush who is hida landing from an lady and the sheriff. If you marry a man because he has gorgeous wavy hair and great sideburns, youll wish you were single again. Forget it. g Dear Ann Landers: I am a homosexual. I know you receive thousands of letters from guys just like me so I will try to say something different to keep from boring you to deaih. For five years I have been aware of my problem. Ive read a lot about homosexuality and most of the authorities agree it is caused by a poor relationship between a boy and his parents almost always the father. Somehow i cant blame my folks for the way I am. They are decent, people and if they knew their son was a queer it would kill them. I date some very pretty girls, and they go for me, but Ill take a guy any day. I only date them to cover up. I am a Roman Catholic. I attend Mass every Sunday and put as much as I can in the basket. I go to confession regularly and pray for Gods help to set me straight After two years of fervent prayer I am beginning to feel I am stuck with my fate and I should resign myself to it. Please dont tell me to see a psychiatrist. I am not crazy. Furthermore, I see no sense in paying a man $40 an hour to tell me what I already know. Is there any hope? What can I do to get over this terrible feeli g that I am a UNALfreak and a fraud? TERABLE hard-workin- g ) Dear Unalterable: You have told me not to suggest psycha-tri- c help but Im going to suggest it, anyway. I suggest it because you are miserable (some homosexuals are not) and you need to express your innermost feelings to someone who will not judge, deprecate, humiliate or punish you. The experts on homosexuality with whom I consult tell me that while the chances for a complete cure are extremely slim, the tortured homosexuals who hate themselves often profit from therapy. While it does not convert them into normal males, it helps them to accept themselves without guilt and shame and emotions all that accompany these twin horrors.
