The Golden Spike Celebration on May 10, 1969, one of the great events in American history, has special significance for Thiokol Chemical Corporation. Thiokol is located in the same area where the Union Pacific and the Central Pacific years ago, uniting a joined together nation that was weary and torn from a disastrous civil war. The attention of the whole world was directed to Promontory for the accomplishment of what had been hailed an impossible dream. 100 Thiokol is so close to the historic railroad spot that its parking lot will be utilized for cars attending the Golden Spike Centennial Celebration in May. Today the railroad is gone, only segments of the roadbed remain. But the land is much happy people of Ogden are proud to be part of the Golden Spike Centennial Many of our ancestors made it all possible. the same now as it was then, except for inter- secting highways and the unique multicolored Wasatch Division plant of Thiokol Chemical Corporation.
