Show The Payson Chronicle, May 27, 1998, Page 15 Obituaries Ercel Kay Davis She died May 20, 1998, at the home of her son in Provo. She is survived by her 3 sons and a daughter: George (Leonora); Raymon (Ilia), Vernal; Cleo (Donna), Provo; and Carma (George) Bryant of Las Vegas; and 24 grandchildren, 100 greatgrandchildren and 21 She was preceded in death her husband, Rolland Almon Bascom; by a granddaughter, Megan Bascom Brey; and a Justin Bryant. as Tillie, everyone called her, exemplified the Saviors admonition, "When you are in the service of your fellow beings, you are only in the service of your God." She spent her life doing things for others, including being in charge of the Uintah High School lunch program, as a foster grandparent for children in Payson and Salem schools, and as a Junior Sunday School coordinator for LDS wards. She served a mission in the Southern States at the age of 68. Services, under the direction of Walker Mortuary, were held Tuesday, May 26, 1998, in the Payson Park LDS Ward Chapel. Burial was in the Vernal Maeser great-greatgrandchildr- great-grandso- n, Ercel Kay Cook Davis, age 75, passed away Thursday, May 21, 1998, at El Rancho Nursing Home in Payson after a long illness that family members are grateful is finally over. She was born January 8, 1 923, in Mona, Utah, a daughter of Lloyd and Gladys Houghton Kay. She married George Harry Cook on September 28, 1942. He preceded her in death in November 1960. She married Ted Davis on September 23, 1962. He preceded her in death on February 22, 1988. Ercel had been a resident of Goshen, Spanish Fork and Payson. Survivors include: a son, Vernon L. Cook, Payson; 9 grandchildren and 4 2 sisters and a brother: Charlene Ashworth, Maynard Kay, both of Payson; Theora Goff of Philane, California. She was preceded in death by 2 sons: Gordon Douglas and Larry Lloyd Cook; and a sister, Patsy Caldwell. Graveside services were held on Satur- day. May 23, 1998, in the Goshen City Cemetery under the direction of Walker Mortuary. I I great-grandchildr- I I ! f en; Matilda N.Bascom N $ ' i i I i i Matilda (Tillie) Nelson Bascom was born June 20, 1901, to Daniel Morgan and Matilda Warby Nelson in Manila, Daggett County, Utah. 1 998 Migrant Program The Nebo School District is sponsoring educational program this summer for an children of migratory farm workers. It will be held at the Barnett Elementary School in Payson for children up to 1 1 years of age. Those 12-1- 7 years of age will be at the Payson Junior High, with busing scheduled to the Barnett Elementary for meals. A night program will be provided this year for children according to Dean Rowley, Director of Migrant Education. Classes are scheduled to begin June 9, 1998, and run through July 23, 1998. There will be NO school July 3rd. The program provides a learning experience for children enrolled under Migrant Education and a day care center for the younger children under the direction of the Migrant Council. The Migrant Families who come into this area to work in the fields and orchards are mainly from Texas and Arizona. Farmers are urged to encourage the migrant children to attend the summer school. In addition to the educational program, meals are provided for the children under the special food service program. Free meals will be made available without regard to race, color, national origin, age, sex or disability. Any person wrho believes that heshe has been discriminated against should write immediately to the Secretary of Agriculture, Washington, D.D. 20250. Prior to the start of the project, the public may make suggestions or recommendations. These should be directed to Dean Rowley at the Nebo School District Office. Catherine May Walker Enslow Our loving mother and grandmother was called from this life to her heavenly home on May 16, 1998, after a recurring and courageous battle with cancer. She was born April 19, 1920, in San Francisco, California, to Frank and Bessy Walker. She grew up and attended school in San Francisco. She married Laurance Claude Enslow and they had 6 children: Catherine (Boyer), Robert, Helene, Susan (Stevenson), Nancy (Barney), and John. After her divorce, she moved to Provo with three of her children. An eternally faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she showed her love for her Heavenly Father through service and loving kindness to others. She loved the temple and worked as a member of the Provo Temple cafeteria staff for 10 years before retiring. , Her hobbies included genealogy, quilting, and helping others. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 28, 1998, in Berg Mortuary, 185 East Center, Street, Provo, Utah, at 10:00 a.m. Friends and family may call Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Thursday morning from 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. prior to services.
