Show Utah Cowbelles Ted Wilson plans 36 hr. campaign Senate organize new club Under the direction of Utah County CowBelle President Michelle Beam-son- , the first CowBelle Booster Club is being organized in the state of Utah. County membership exceeds one hundred members and the purpose of the booster club is to support the beef market at the Utah County Fair which will be held in Spanish Fork this month. Volunteer donations are being solicited by all members and any other interested persons. All donations will be used to boost the price of the beef sales. All state CowBelle members are encouraged to lend their support to the Utah County CowBelles in this new project and donations may be sent prior to August 20th to any of the following officers: Michelle Bearnson, Pat Swenson, Jane B. Nelson or Julie Teichert. candidate A noon flight will take Wilson to Kanab, where he will attend the Kane County Fair. Wilson will also visit the Garfield County Fair. At 7:00 p.m. Wilson is scheduled to address the Southern Utah Bar Association in Cedar City. After his speech he will visit Cedar City-Shakespearean Festival. He will hold a midnight press conference in Cedar City. Wilson will spend the early morning hours in Beaver County, visiting with residents of Milford and Minersville. He will be the guest at a 7:00 a.m. breakfast in Beaver. Wilson will attend a luncheon hosted by supporters in Fillmore, and will then tour the Intermountain Power Project. IPP is critical to the economy of Utah and more must be done to ensure the rapid completion of the project, said the Mayor. Ted Mayor Wilson will launch his second 36-ho- Campaign Marathon Thursday morning, August 12. He plans to visit Kane, Garfield, Iron, Beaver, Millard and Juab Counties. I'm traveling the state again for 36 hours straight to talk about the important issues of this campaign. Since my opponent has refused to debate, I intend to use my marathon as a chance to talk about Senator Hatchs ineffectiveness in working for Utah, said Wilson. Wilson also said he plans to visit every county of the State before the November election. Wilson will start his marathon by greeting employees of Mountain Bell as they come to work at 8:00 a.m. He will hold a press conference at 9:30 a.m., and will address the G.I. Forum convention at the Salt Lake Hilton at 10:30 a.m. Wilsons final marathon stop will be picnic in Nephi, where he will discuss rural growth at a Juab County and the economy with residents. In a ceremony on August 13th at the State Capitol, the Utah Highway Patrol will receive a $300.00 cash award and a plaque attesting to their achievement. The Utah Highway Patrol will donate the money to the Primary Childrens Hospital. NAUMD Executive Director Bernard J. Lepper, said that the association sponsors the nationwide program to recognize police departments who maintain . the highest standards of uniform dress. The program is now in its fifth year. All departments entering the contest, were aksed to submit photos of officers in uniform and a brief explanation of why they felt they should be considered best dressed, said Mr. Lepper. All entries were judged on the basis of whether the uniform projected a neat, favorable image; provided immediate recognition and identification as police personnel; projected the authority and professionalism of the department; provided comfort, protection from physical attack and - protection from the was coordinated with weather; outerwear, accessories, caps and equipment; and the method of accountability used to assure good uniformed appearance. According to the judges, the Utah 377-17- 10 this ad for free eenterpieees in Highway Patrol received the top honor for the outstanding manner in which its uniform program exemplified the above criteria. The winter and summer uniforms consist of tan trousers, dark brown shirts, and dark brown campaign hats. In the winter tan ties and felt hats are worn. In the summer, the hat is straw. For "dress occasions officers wear a white shirt, black tie and dark brown blouse with shoulder strap and garrison belt with accessories. We are very proud of our uniform and are delighted to have it said recognized by this award, Colonel Dennis J. Norfelt. The Utah Highway Patrol has very strict uniform and appearance policies, but we seldom have to enforce them. Our officers take pride in the tradition of this department, part of which is to look sharp at all times. There is a high level of espirit de corps among our officers and individual appearance ! standards are excellent. The judges of the Best Dressed Police Department competition were Lt. Arthur Jacobs and Sgt. Jack Becaccio of the Police Equipment Bureau of the New York City Police Department; "Scott Kingwill, publisher of Law and Order Magazine; and Professor Edward Goldstein, of the Fashion Institute of Technology. Top honors also went to the Marion County Sheriffs Department, Indianapolis, Indiana, named Best Dressed County Police Department, and the Eager, Arizona Police Department, winner of the title of Best Dressed ; City Police Department.
