Sorensen of Payson will exchange wedding vows in the Logan LDS Temple on Friday, May 1st. A wedding luncheon will follow the ceremony. A reception to honor the couple will be held that evening in Preston. An open house, to which friends and relatives are invited, will be held at the home of the groom's parents, at West Mountain on Saturday, May 2nd, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Wilford Meek, Preston, and Mr. and Mrs. Tom C. Sorensen of West Mountain. Attending the bride will be her sister, Shirlene Meek, and sister of the groom, Kim and Katie Sorensen. Allen Jones and Tom Olson will share best man duties. Special guests will be Mr. and Mrs. Howard Schow, grandparents of the bride. Also, grandparents of the groom Mr. and Mrs. Byron Montague of Payson and Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Sorensen of Goshen will be special guests. The bride-to-b- e is a graduate of Preston High School. BYU She is a junior at majoring in elementary education. The groom is a graduate of Payson High School. He filled a LDS mission in the Japan Kobe Mission and is majoring in computer design technology at BYU. The young couple will live in Provo where both will continue their studies at BYU. Edna Steele to Vi celebrate 80th Edna Steele will observe her 80th birthday on May 2, Her children will help her celebrate the day by to a family dinner at Sils Grotto. her taking Edna Wickman Steele was born May 2, 1901, to Gustav and Mary Louise Lundholm Wickman. She was born in the home she lives in now at 268 North Center, Santaquin. She married Chester Cloy Steele on April 11, 1926. He is deceased. Together they had nine children, seven of which are living: Terry Steele, Mrs. Ken (Betty) Coombs, Mrs. Briggs (Marilyn) Bowers, all of Santaquin; Mrs. Jiggs (Janey) Ewell, Payson; Virginia Sanford, Spanish Fork; Mrs. Wever (Rose Marie) Gim, Maryland; Max Steele, Dugway. Deceased are Darrell Cloy Steele and Duane Fredrick Steele. Mrs. Steele has enjoyed her family and her activities in the LDS Church. She served in the primary for 20 years and as a visiting teacher for 38 years. She is also a member One of her of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. favorite acitivites is reading. The bride, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thane Telford, has attended Payson High School and graduated from the Evans' Hairstyling College in Provo. The groom, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Pay, graduated from Juab High School and attended school in Billings, Montana. He is currently employed with the Penrod Drilling Company. The young couple plan to make their home in Nephi after a brief honeymoon. They will be honored at a wedding reception to be held in Nephi at the stake center. I Haskells to celebrate 60th anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Leo Earl Haskell celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on April 20. They were married April 20, 1921, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple and have lived in Payson all of their married lives. Mr. and Mrs. Haskell have enjoyed working and maintaining a farm east of Payson. They have also been active members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-daSaints. The couple are the parents of two sons and one daughter: Francis Earl Haskell, Leo Dwane Haskell, and Leona Close, all of Payson. They have 21 grandchildren and 16 y great-grandchildr- en . |
