Nielson Recently Spencer W. Kimball, who is the prophet of God on the earth today, and President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-da- y Saints, commonly called the Mormon Church, was one of the speakers at a gathering of nearly 12,000 church members and in the Louisiana State University Assembly Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. s, Speakers at this gathering were President Kimball; his lovely wife Camilla; Don Lind, astronaut; Harmen Killebrew, former baseball player and 5th leading home run hitter in major league history; George Romney, three times governor of Michigan and former United States secretary of Housing and Urban Development; his wife Lenore, former actress and candidate for the United States Senate; Elder Mark Bensen, regional Representative of the 12 Apostles; and Elder LaMar Williams, president of the Louisiana Baton Rouge Mission, all prominent Mormons from throughout the United States. The theme of the meeting was "The Family Is Forever. The speakers all stressed the importance of the family, and voiced similar thoughts to those of Don Lind, who said that good stable families could be the best unit for solving worldwide domestic problems of juvenile delinquency, divorce, rising crime and drug abuse. Sister Camilla Kimball said, after children in the audience am a Child Of God; sang I, too, am a child of God. There is no other happiness that equals the love of family both in this life 1 and in the next. What a loving Father in Heaven we have, who has given us specific ways to live She so we can return to him. said it is not always easy, but we must continue working at it. Never be assured the race is run until it is completed, but live every day worthily and you will arrive at the end, having successfully run the course. When the Prophet spoke he said: My Brothers and Sisters, I have come to share an important I address message with you. beas and sisters brothers you cause we are all joined by a common link. We all knew and lived with our Father in Heaven before we came to be taught in the school of mortality. In an age when divorce is rampant and sexual impurities abound, the Masters Church remains the same. We invite you all to join with us if you are concerned about the importance of the family, if you believe in the importance of chastity, if you love the scriptures and believe in the divinity of Jesus Christ. If you crave the stability of a church built upon the rock of apostles and prophets, we say, come join with us. Join us if you do not wish to be tossed by the fads and fashions of our time; if you pursue purposeful and family prayer. If you desire to be a more effective mother or father, join us in Relief Society and priesthood meetings. If you seek greater love and joy in your own lives, and those of your children, look at our youth If you are concerned about the evils of drugs, alcohol and tobacco, let us tell you about the Word of Wisdom. If you are concerned about disregard for the sanctity of life, join us in decrying the wicked crime of abortion. Without the standards of Jesus Christ, society pitches and staggers because of uncertainty of what is important. We are grateful for your desires to be righteous in an increasingly wicked world. We have mounted a massive missionary effort to bring the good tidings of the gospel to the world. This is typical of the activities of this 82 year old prophet who is working unceasingly to help the message of the gospel bring His of Christ to the world. of one is urgency, to message prepare for the near coming of the Savior. Dr. Ernest L. Wilkinson Jr., personal physician of President Kimball, in expressing his personal conviction about the prophetic calling of President KimWith my eyes ball, has said: I have seen the hand of the Lord raise him from a bout with cancer, and from open-heasurgery, to enjoy better health today than can be expected, and it has enabled him to carry out this great missio he is on today.
