The truck is an American LaFrance on a Chevrolet chassis. Mr. Kaletta reports that fire phones are located in the businesses of Tischner Ford and Super Quick Service, and in the homes of J.H. Kay and Bill Kaletta. Another phone is located at the fire station. Secretary Kaletta relates that members of the Fire Department are paid according to the number of fires they attend. Their rate of pay is $1.50 for the first hour, then $1.00 per hour after that. indicate the stipend Firemen is just about enough to cover Jim Peterson next chief Santaquin City Councilman Tom McCloud reports the Santaquin Fire Department has elected Jim Peterson as Fire Chief for 1980. Serving with Mr. Peterson will be Robert Tasker as Assistant Chief, Bill Kaletta continuing as Secretary, Kay Tischner continuing as Engineer, and Farrell Bott as Drill Master. These men will take over the new positions as of January 1, 1980. Jim Peterson will replace Charlie Weierman as Chief. Mr. Weierman has served as head of the Fire Department for the past four years. Robert Tasker will take the Assistant Chief position vacated by Mr. Peterson. Farrell Bott will be replacing Robert Nostaja as Drill Master. Councilman McCloud also mentioned he has signed the fire agreement with Utah County. The County has agreed to pay Santaquin a sum of $4,470 for providing fire protection in 1980. There is also an additional overtime allowance in the contract. Mr. McCloud further reports that during the election meeting, which was held Thursday, December 6, three new members were sworn into the Fire Department: Daniel Olson, Clinton Howard Elliot, and Thomas W. McCloud. Secretary Bill Kaletta lists the 26 men as official members of the Santaquin Fire Department: Howard Armstrong, J.H. Kay, Bill Kaletta, Reese Nelson, Berk Peterson, Jim Peterson, Kay Peterson, Nick Roberts, Kathle Tischner, Robert Tasker, Jim Tuckett, Charlie Weierman, Mark Williams, Kay Tischner, ElRay Davis, Curtis Peterson, Wayne Sanderson, Jim Crook, Farrell Bott, Robert Nostaja, Larry Butler, Wayne Ford, Larry Peterson, Clinton Elliott, Daniel Four Olson, and Tom McCloud. others who have been approved by the Department and City Council, but have not been sworn in yet, are Phillip Rousch, Allen Prince, Mark Pulham, and Val Broadhead. Santa- quin has recently moved his fullline insurance business to 290 Mr. East Main in Santaquin. to move decided he Bylund says the business office to Main Street in order to better serve the public. He adds, I feel it is important for Santaquin to have a insurance agent available at all times. Mr. Bylund is an agent for Farmers Insurance Group and he carries all lines of insurance, specializing in auto, home, and life insurance. His wife, Annette, sells Sandak shoes at the office along with a complete line of food items, insuch cluding accessory items as water purifiers. Mr. Bylund has 3V2 years experience in the insurance business. A native of Santaquin, Mr. Bylund was born in 1934 in his parents historic Santaquin home where his mother, Jennie Bylund lives today. The original two home-storag- e e, rooms of the Bylund home were built before 1870. It is located at 187 North 200 East. ' Mr. Bylunds new office also has a historic value for Santaquin people. In 1924 the original structure was moved from Spring (now called Peter Rabbit Spring) on Santaquins east bench and placed on its present foundation by Ivan and Bert Lindstrom. Bob Beckstead added onto the structure in the 1960s. And Mr. Bylund bought and remodeled the house about one year ago. Both Cyrus and Annette have attended BYU and served missions for the LDS Church. Cyrus served in New Zealand and Annette in England. Annette worked in the Church Office Building in Salt Lake City where she coordinated microfilming operations throughout the world. She also worked for the General Relief Society. Cyrus and Annette have one daughter, Ann, who is five years old.
