The chilly weather was offset by hot chocolate, chili, and roasted chestnuts provided by the Chamber of Commerce and Roes Bake Shoppe, along with Jen Gloria McBride, and Willis Pulver at Will-L- o Hobby Shop. The parade featured Payson City Councilmen Steve Hanson and Brent York, Chamber leaders Kathy Brandon and Rex Wilker-sothe Payson Fire Department, Miss Utah Valley Rama Jean Griffith, and Representative Bill d hay wagon. Wrights Band imSchool The Payson High pressed everyone and various dancers and singers from the Payson area warmed up the night. Reporting positive changes in the City is always nice to do. Have you noticed the lighting in the Payson City Center lately? If you havent, next time youre there check the lobby and council chamfl oresbers. What you will see is cent light bulbs lighting the way. These bulbs are giving out more light while using 82 watts less energy per bulb per hour. This was done by reducing light levels in areas where it wasnt needed and increasing levels where it was. The lighting system has been improved and energy dollars are being saved. By now youre probably saying, "Well, youve made a lot of changes, but whats the bottom line?" Well, here it is: by reducing the number of florescent tubes and changing to a more efficient light bulb, the city saves $1,518.31 a year! Thats an impressive savings for making a few changes in the lighting system. The Instrumental ensembles will be performing under the direction of Keith Russell and Christi Bristow on Thursday, December 13, at 7:00 p.m. while the annual Choirs at Christmas concert will be held on Monday, December 17, at 7:30 p.m. under the direction of David C.Dahlquist. Both performances will be held in the Payson High School Auditorium. Until just recently, all the performing groups performed on the same program, but student involvement in all areas of the music department has grown to a point that the auditorium cannot accommodate the numbers of family and friends who choose to attend these annual festive celebrations of music. In addition to family and friends, an honored tradition, now in its fifteenth year, is to invite Choir Alumni to join in the singing of the Hallelujah Chorus from Handels MESSIAH. "Each year, as we get more and more alumni, the logistics problems become greater, but we are not ending the tradition. We will find room," says Dahlquist, chairman of the Fine Aits Department. The Concert Choir and Trouveres will also be performing on Temple Square on Wednesday evening, December 19, beginning at 6:30 p.m. For those interested parties who cannot attend either of the Christmas concerts, the combined Fine Arts Department will be presenting a musical Christmas assembly on Friday morning, December 21, beginning at 8:00 am. in the high school auditorium. VFW To Hold Christmas Party December 1 3 Payson Veterans of Foreign Wars, Payson Post 6169 and Ladies Auxiliary are having their Christmas party on Tuesday, December 13, in the basement of Zions First National Bank at 7:00 p.m. sharp. It will be a pot luck party. Bring a vegetable dish or favorite dessert. Bring your own dishes and eating utensils, also a $3.00 exchange gift for men and ladies. Commander Max Llewellyn Public Comments Sought On Improvements In Tinneys Flat Officials of the Spanish Fork Ranger District, Uinta National Forest, are proposing reconstruction of Tinneys Flat campground in Santaquin Canyon. The purpose of this project is to expand and improve the existing facility. A range of alternatives for this proposal are being considered. As part of this process, Forest Service officials are seeking public comment on the development of this area. Comments should be in written form and addressed to District Ranger, Spanish Fork Ranger District, 44 West 400 North, Spanish Fork, Utah 84660. Comments will be received until December 30, This project is scheduled to commence in the spring of 1991 and continue through the summer.
