Despite the multitalented cast performing Side By Side By the show Sondheim, cannot be expected to capture the fancy of the typical Utah audience, if the comments heard Wednesday night at the shows opening are any gauge of its potential popularity One cannot find fault with the way the show is produced, with one exception, nor can a bad word be said about the people who perform in it. It is simply a script that does not have widespread appeal There are moments, in the first act, when one feels that things are goof whose hits include such shows as Gypsy, West Company, Side Story and as well as Follies some that are not so well known Having seen only two of those, perhaps I shouldnt judge so hars-ly- , but 1 know for a fact that there is music that has greater appeal than many of those in this show For example from West Side Story a very fine scene A Boy Like That and I Have A Love was performed by Jen Blom-fiel- After waiting all month, expecting that to be delivered by Ms. Rowe, we were forced to e settle for a slightly delivery by Tony off-tun- Larimer. The cast gave 100 percent to this show and little fault can be found with their efforts or with the artistic direction by Robert Hyde Wilson.
