'half-grow- The Golden Wedding anniversary Lester and Lapreal Anderson will celebrated at an open house on August 1st from 5 to 9 p.m. Friends and relatives are being invited to call at the home of Brant and Delores of Anderson, son and daughter-in-lathe honored pair, at 3592 Cochise Dr. Lester and the former Lapreal Rolfe were married on August 1, 1930 in Hunter, Utah. The two youngsters went all through high school together at Cyprus school, but they didnt even meet, or get to know each other, until after they both had graduated. They were finally introduced at a Granger Ward dance. They were soon married and bought a house on Vine street. The house they liked but the location they didnt, so they soon moved the Murray house to Lesters fathers farm on 40th West in Granger, where Lester helped his family with the farming. Moving that house was not as easy as they had expected however, and during the trip to Granger the porch fell right off the front of the house. It all began when Jan Brown, Taylorsville, along with her entire family) went up to Flaming Gorge for a weekend of fishing. Her family is her husband Bob, her son Bobby, Stephanie and her husband Craig Jackson, to meet up with Tom Raddon, a long time friend of all of them. We got a late start that morning, Jan now grinningly recalls, and I was in a boat with Tom and Craig and GayLynn Carline. Tom, who is an expert on that lake, thought we might not have too good of luck. But we trolled the waters where he knew the Macks were holed up and the first time over it I got a snag. . have turned around and suddenly felt a pole. Finally he got up to the boat and we were all nearly dying of excitement. Tom was saying it was the biggest fish hed ever seen taken, and I, as the fish circled the boat I closed my eyes tight and didnt even look, I was so scared Id lose him. But I didn't, and Tom helped me land it. Tom was as excited as I was ... in addition to it being because such a monster he helped me lose a big fish several years ago and had always promised hed help me get another one to repay for that first one we lost. Well, he helped me and any debt is all forgotten. My arms ache, my chest muscles hurt and everytime I think of that fight against the 27 pound Mackinaw at Flaming Gorge I get sb excited my heart begins to pound again. The trophy-winninBig Mack, is now at a taxidermist shop and when he is finished with it . . . well, Jan Brown can get excited again every day of her life because the finished product will hang in her own home. And there it will stay . material proof that if you want something done right ... ha, ha, ha . . . you better ask a woman to do it. In 1970 they ventured across the ocean and toured Europe. Traveling has been one of their most enjoyed hobbies and they have seen every state in the United States at least once. Two years ago they even took to the seas on a Carribean Cruise. In addition to their travels, they are both very active in church activities. Lester is an active High Priest in the North Jordan 5th Ward and was a scout master and counselor for many years. He was secretary of the and ran the motion picture show YM-MI- West Valley City, UT. .q ZD West Valley View Thurs., July 31, 1980 Friday night in the old Granger Ward for several years. He was also the President of Kennecott Copper Retired Persons for 2 years. Before he retired he was every a safety engineer and fire chief. He retired after 37 years of service. Now days Mr. Anderson can be found in his work shop with his grandsons, Rick and Greg, making chairs and cradles and toys. He makes toys each year for the Christmas Parade of Trees. Lapreal is equally as active as her husband. She was the President of the MIA for 2 years and a counselor under two other presidents. She was Relief Society secretary, Stake Relief Society secretary, Beehive teacher for 8 years and a Relief Society visiting teacher for several years. During World War II Lapreal was manager of the Hospital Post Exchange at the Kearns Army Camp. She also has worked at W'inder Dairy as a bookkeeper. The Andersons now spend their time with their son Brent and their 4 grandchildren, or they go up to their cabin on the Weber River.
