No criminal improprieties were discovered by the County Attorneys Office in its investigation of the West Valley City incorporation vote. Deputy County Attorney Robert Stott Thursday announced the results of the investigation, which was requested by West Valley City mayor-elec- t Henry (Hank) Price. Price requested the investigation after allegations were made that incorporation supporters had attempted to influence the outcome of the election. But, after studying the matter, Stott concluded that no criminal acts were committed and the sample ballots had no effect upon the incorporation vote. Stotts investigation showed that before the election, a group of incorporation supporters unsuccessfully attempted to register about 70 voters with the County Election Division. The attempt was denied because the registration time limit had expired, Stott said the election division responded. The incorporation backers then obtained sample ballots and contacted the people whose registration cards were not accepted and had these people fill out their vote on the sample ballot, Stott wrote. If incorporation failed, the ballots would have been used to initiate a lawsuit seeking to require the Election Division to accept the registrations, the deputy county attorney said. None of the sample ballots were included in the incorporation vote, he added. Serving Salt Lake County's West Valley Area kl KI Published weekly Thursday, May 1, 1980 155 E 4905 KHS DELEGATES . . .
