Show March 9, 1978 Page Official Program 7 Gardner Notes Career Success bachelors and masters degrees Fern Gardner, Intermountain Basketball Coach of the Year in 1977, has posted an outstanding career as both an athlete and coach in the intermountain area In her nine year tenure as a collegiate coach, Ms Gardner won-los- s has tallied a 207-4- 7 record and led her teams to six AIAVV in physical education from Utah State University. She taught physical education at Box Elder 1969-70- ) and High School (1961-68- , was a graduate assistant at Utah State in physical education and coached the women's olleyball, basketball and softball teams in national tournaments, 1968-69- 1970 (invitational) and 1977. A graduate of Bear River School, Ms. . Beef Liver One of the state's most accomplished athletes, Ms Gardner was an outstanding pitcher and performer for the Utah Shamrocks softball team for 20 and attended 13 years (1951-71- ) national tournaments. She also was a member of the Utah Lakers AAU basketball team and performed in six national AAU tournaments. She was an softball pitcher in 1970 and elected to the Utah Hall of Fame for her softball skills. As U of U Womens Athletic Director, Gardner directs the eight sport womens program at the U of U which includes basketball, volleyball, track & field, gymnastics, skiing, soft-bal- l, swimming, and tennis.
