This proven cancer fact (both in Utah and nationally) is the ammunition the Utah Division, American Cancer society will use next month In conducting the first of a series of Mobile Cancer Clinics throughout the state. The first of the free clinics will be held in Tremonton, Box Elder County, Saturday, December 6, from 2 to 5 p.m. and will focus on cancer of the breast and cervix. "Breast and Uterine Cancer account for a large percentage of cancer cases in the United States every year," said Dr. Merrill L. Wilson, president of the Utah Division Am- -j erican Cancer Society. "And yet, if they are detected in annually for every 100,000 women, according to figures supplied by the Intermountain Medical Program Regional Tumor Registration. The fact that survival seems to be so closely associated with early detection means that 80 per cent of those who are diagnosed at the time of localized breast cancer survice at least five years," said Dr. Wilson. Early detection has also played the most significant role in nearly eliminating cancer of the Cervix as a fatal disease. Ninety seven per cent of those Utahns with cancer of the Cervix whose disease was diagnosed early have a five year survival rate, Dr. Wilson noted. "The Clinics accomplish two purposes - they offer a service in helping to save lives and they Insure the best possible care, regardless of the patients ability to pay," Dr. Wilson added.
