Granite School district representatives at the Political Action Clinic for Teachers were Mrs. Lois Lobb, Clay Petersen, Mrs. Ruth Clark, Robert Crane, Carl Petterson, Robert Pierce, C. Michael Newman, Gerald Handy, Karl Badger, and James Short. The conference, designed to help educators develop greater political sophistication, was sponsored by the Nationl Education Association, the Utah Education Association and local associations in the area. The class will begin at 7:30 p.m. and will meet at the Kearns Tennis Courts. The cost is $40.00 which includes the teaching, rental on the equipment and certification. Playing in sparkling jackets of blue and gold under the Valley Music Hall lights, the group of young native boys who cannot read music play with a sensitivity that would delight a master. Their steel drums simulate the sounds of bass, cello, woodwinds and first uolins. Their M.C. and leader is Hugh The man who creates their inBorde. struments from the steel drums is Allan Carvais, a soft spoken gentleman known v. a viruoso pan player and brilliant tuner. And adding further to the image ol good taste and fine music is Reverand bather John Fewell. an Angliean priest who ranges the bands classical repertoire and directs many of their numbers. A medley of seven Christmas carols brought mars to the eyes of several people in our area, including our own, with its singular beauty. The melodies of Beethoven, Mozart, BrVaams and Strauss were rendered with rwquisite skill.
