Show Thursday, October 27, 10 Getting to Know You Kearns Jr. High On Friday, Oct. 28, the girls at the school will participate in a Getting Acquainted Tea. The 9th and 8th graders will choose a young sister from the seventh grade. They will take their little sisters around and introduce them to the G.A. board and everyone else, there. This is under the direction of Linda Curtis, G.A. president, and Miss Millard, sponsor. There will be decorations, refreshments and nice quiet music. Page 11 THE VALLEY VIEW NEWS Mrs. Larsen, orchestra leader, played a solo on her viola, her accompanist was Mrs. Norfelt. Next and last was the girls chorus singing O Joe Clark, their accompanist was Jeannine Person. This was a very outstanding assembly. Personality of the Week Danny Leatherwood, our student body president, is our personality of Idle week. He leads a very busy life. His favorite hobbies are bowling, drawing and horseback riding. He is on a bowling league, and plays every week, on Saturdays. This should be a lot of fun for the girls. Orchestra and Chorus Assembly Master of ceremonies was Danny Leatherwood, student body president. The first number on the program was the Boys Chorus, singing two numbers. Mr. Pearce, music director, sang a number from Showboat. Our school symphony was next on the program playing The Third Movement of the Second The sports he likes best are footSymphony. Six girls playing their violins played Romnay Life. Then ball, volleyball, and baseball. He is on the school team. I heard hes a very good player. The subject he likes best is gym. His favorite teacher is Mr. Borders who teaches World Geography. He likes him best because he says he can argue best with him. He has attended many schools. They are West Kearns for the sixth grade, Whittier for the fifth grade, and Redwood for the sixth grade. I asked him if he liked his job U.S. SAVINGS BONDS We think he is the best president a schoo 1 could ever have. We would all like to express our appreciation to him. To vote with knowledge of the issues and candidate is to perpetuate government by popular consent. The right to vote with freedom is more than a privilege. It is a duty and an obligation. Each eligible voter has a duty to his American heritage to exercise the privilege that was won through bitter struggles. He also has an obligation to the people of the world to demonstrate that this stronghold of democracy still cher- ishes freedom.
