Show Page Thursday, October 27, 1960 THE VALLEY VIEW NEWS SO What's Buzzing High Game High Series at Brockbank By Cherie Worthen and JoRay Woolley The ninth grade students at Brockbank Junior High School were very proud to present their assembly, Friday, October 21, 1960, for they feel it will be the best assembly of the year because they have had three years to practice. The assembly was opened with a spiritual number by a double mixed quartet including: Sandra Herron, Kay Lynn Hendrickson, Kayla Jellionick, Ramona Smith, Craig Duckworth, David Coon, John Sadler, Ramond McLain, Richard Clegg, Peggy Borland, and Edna Crosley. Margret Sergent, a newcomer to Brockbank, then favored us with a ballet number. Sylvia Haws and Kathy Dyches both played piano solos. Vicki Keetch pantomimed to Please Mr. Custard. Next a quintet from the advanced orchestra favored us with a number called Minuetto. This group consisted of Sonja Rees, Elayne' Williams, Cherie Worthen, Jackie Mansfield, and a borrowed seventh grader, Nancy Nielson. . Edna Crosley and Joy Robertson then entertained us with another pantomime. Last but surely not least, Gloria Green did an accordion solo. The masters of ceremonies were Kay Christison, Carol Petty, Connie Whittaker, and Craig Duckworth. Last week was National Fire Prevention Week. In connection with it West Kearns Elementary School carried out various activities. The Kearns Fire Department extended an invitation to several classes to come visit the department. Among those going were Mrs. Frahms first grade and Mrs. Bosworths fourth grade. The children learned about the uses of fire fighting equipment and trucks. Jeanette Seqwaptewa did an Indian Sign Language Solo to "The Lords Prayer. We were then favored with a piano duet by Sandra Herron and Shauna Harris. Then our talented Singer, Ramona Smith, sang Three Coins in a Fountain. The County Fire Chief and helpers came to West Kearns during the week to inspect the building for safety. They made checks in all the schools of the Granite District. Our day for this check sent us out in the rain to see how we responded to a fire drill.
