Davis, Salt Lake City attorney and former speaker of the Utah State House of Representatives, is one of ten candidates for the judgeship of the Third Judicial District Court. This District includes the counties of. Salt Lake, Tooele, Summit and Daggett. Mr. Davis, a native of Salt Lake City, graduated from the University of Utah Law School and has been practicing law for the past 13 years. He has served 12 years in the Utah State Legislature, both as a member of the House and as a Senator, during the years 1946-195In addition to being elected Speaker by his fellow lawmakers, he was also elected Chairman of the Utah State Legislative Council in 1953 and 1954. While in the House, he was also elected Floor Leader and Whip and served two years in each of these capacities. At present, Mr. Davis is serv- 8. (i ing as Commissioner of the Utah State Library Board, having been appointed by Governor G. D. Clyde term. last year to a six-year Attorney Davis is a Veteran of World War II, and served three and a half years in military intelligence as a special agent in the Manhattan Engineers, the code name given to the atomis bomb project. In 1948 Mr. Davis was honored with the Distinguished Service Award, given annually by the Utah State Jaycees to young men for outstanding participation in Community, State, and Civic affairs. Mr. Davis belongs to the Salt Lake City Chamber of Commerce, the University Club and the Salt Lake Tennis Club. He married the former lone McKean.
