Heavens no, I was just getting out my hamburger gift certificate. I piled back into my car and pro-cede- d east on North Temple. Stopping at a yellow light I began to regain my composure when the car in back of me started to honk profusely. Unnerved, I climbed out of my car once again and kindly questioned the driver why he had whipped by me at 60-7- 0 mph, honked. WORLD BOOK GAYLEN A Service of The Thor Research Center This is an adaptable and easily constructed bookcase that can be made in any home workshop. The size of the bookcase not only depends on where it will be placed, but on the size and number of books to be stoed. It can be 2 feet high or the entire height of the wall. It can be 3 feet wide or the length of a wall. Regardless of the size, a few basic portable electric power tools circular saw, jig saw, sander, and drill will let you do the work easily and quickly. Stock for this booker se should be 1x10 for storing average books. If larger books are to be placed on the shelves, larger stock must necessarily be used. For those who want a three-she- lf case and not an entire-wa- ll bookcase, the shelves can be cut to exact dimensions by clamping the wood together, aligning, and cutting boards at one time. The ends can be cut the same way to assure identical lengths for end pieces. The top should be approximately 2 Vz inches longer than the shelves to achieve the proper overhang of about Vz inch. A provision for shelf adjustment can be added by drilling two rows inch deep in inch holes of the end pieces, approximately 1 Vz inches inside each edge. The space between the shelves should be approximately 9 inches to acthe commodate average-siz- e but these book, adjustable holes will allow for larger books. Small wood pegs can be inserted in the holes to support the shelves, or hardware can be purchased for supporting them. Sand all surfaces smooth with your electric sander before assembling and after assembly round off all corners with the sander so there are no sharp edges or splinters. (You can receive plans for this bookcase, without charge, by writing to the Thor Research Center, Marengo, 111.
