Show LATE FROM THE WEST I 1 by the politeness of mr W walker valker alker who ia the absence of mr gilbert had it in his possession we have been furnished with avith the following lowin communication from jud jude judge a e Fl flenniken flesnik ennik tp received by pony express on the mornin morning of the oth dinst BUTTE STATION oct 6 1860 MR AIR A GILBERT my dear friend we have reached this is point in safety but for the last two days hav have had bad weather cold and six inches of snow last night altogether was the most disagreeable of my life it was vas two in the th morning when we reached this thia place a good many of our party nearly frozen just in the evening in egans kanyon w wo had an alarm of indians they had their fires on the mountains which they extinguished when they saw us we ave drove to the station 1 short d stance which vas was burned down a second time we here expected an attack but had none there were but five of us a as the ambulance was an honn and a half ahead with the remainder of our party it wandar was dar and snowing hard and our watch for that period was indeed disagreeable but our co corm corn pany came up and we went safey safely on remained here all day marshal grice wishes to be kindl kindly y bared yours truly R P FLENNIKEN |
