know whether any of them or whether all of them wish salvation if they do I 1 have the gospel of salvation for them and I 1 call upon the people to know whether they are the friends of god or only of themselves individually I 1 do not inow know of any better way avay to get an expression from the people as to whether they wish the gospel preached to them whether they desire to believe in the lord jesus christ to obey his counsels and live to his hia glory denying themselves of gordly lusts and of every thi thing that is sensual and contrary to his gospel a and feel as though they wanted to be saints of the most high than to have the brethren and sisters sister those who so wish and desire manifest it by rising upon their feet you will observe those who do not rise the vast congregation all enjoy en loy it to its fullness and if I 1 should be fi filled 1 l with avith the power and spirit of the mission that is is upon me I 1 shall not spare the wicked I 1 shall be like a flaming sword that this people were ivere preparing 0 themselves many of them for apos ticy tacy we were re preparing themselves for the apos tacy of their nei nel neighbors ebors and arid their families their in fellowship that serve the devil and ara themselves and give no heed to the almighty I 1 cannot do it t this people have been taught a great deal they have had ad principle and doctrine fed to them till they are surfeited and where is the th man the officer or th the e commini community it that understand what has been taught thed them there may be one here and there that understands but generally the eyes of the people are closed upon eternal things and they seek for that which pleases the th eee eye that which is in in accordance cor dance with the lusts of the flesh that which is is full of iniquity and they care not for the righteousness of our god I 1 I 1 repeat that as for those who are disposed to refrain from their evils to renew their cov enacts and live their religion I 1 will have the th honor and you jou the privilege of going forth and renewing your covenants otherwise there must be a separation let those who have been with us ten or fifteen years yearb who have through the sor bor sorrowful rowl ul scenes that joseph and many others who have haie gone behind the vail had to wade through look back and see the i hand of god that has led us to a landphere land where we en enjoy tidy liberty where we ave enjoy all the fredom that t ever the city of enoch enjoyed until they thet were ivere more perfectly made acquainted with god all that we can enjoy more than thane i we ave do unless we further acquaint ourselves our selves with our god and become his friends and his associates will be but very little littie more than we now possess I 1 tell you 5 ou that this people viii will vill not be suffered to walk as they have walked to do as they ha have e done to livla live as they have lived god vill will have a reckoning with us ere long and we must refrain from our evils and furn farn to the lord our god or lie he will ivill come cohne out in judgment against us I 1 refer to the doctrine and the tho teachings teachings that have been laid before this people ang and I 1 will say that it would take me weeks and months to tell you ou what has been y a already r eady told you ou but it passes anto into your ears ear s and out again and is no more remembered show me the man who sho knows enough about his god and is sufficiently acquainted with the prin principle ciple of eternal lives to be able to say bay 1 I can handle the gold and the silver the goods the chattels and the possessions of this world w orld orid i with my heart no more set upon them than it is upon the wind 1 I know how to use them to dea deal ulon upon out this and to distribute that and to do all to the glory of my ray father in in heaven if there is one in this congregation that knows know how to do all this viii will vill you please to rise up I 1 these are things that I 1 have taught you week after week and year after year but do you understand them themi no you may say with j shamefacedness that there is hardly a man in this congregation that can righteously manage even earthly things just as quick aa as you ar ara are prospered ros rob ered you alde aide are lost to the lord you ar arg are E filled with darkness do you think the angels of the lord lust after the things that are before them thema ail all heaven hea en is before us and all this earth the gold i and the silver all ilese thebe these are at our command and shall we vve lust after them they are arc all wit within hin our reach they are for the saints whom god loves loies even all who fix their minds upon him and the interests of ofhie his kingdom our father possesses all the riches of eternity and all those riches are vouchsafed unto us t and yet we lust after them I 1 have taught you ou these things thins 1 weeks and months ago aril aili and ana yet there 19 is not a man nor woman in this congregation that understands understand them in their falness ful ness these are simple prin arm caples that should be learned and although they have been taught you from time to time yet you have not learned them and for me to repeat to you what I 1 have taught you and andi what my brethren have taught you would take me weeks and notwithstanding all that has been taught still the people are full of idolatry the spirit of contention and the spirit of the world are axe in them and they are full of the things of the tb world weil weil well I 1 just say my cay brethren
