CULTURAL SOCIETY SEC 1 te the style of this society nuclei shall sh akl all be 61 the deseret state society suc Soc ty its objects shall be to im prove the condition of the i alsing of truit fruit grain and vegetables by awarding such premium emliy pr emiry as the society may mai from time to time deem expedient for such purposes SEC 2 any citizen of this territory can become a member of this society by paying to the treasurer one dollar and annually thereafter one dollar the presidents of county horticultural or agricultural societies or a delegate from each shail shall ex be members of this society SEC 3 athe the officers of this society shall consist of one president eight vice presidents president one nonie home secretary oni ong one corresponding secretary and one treasurer the above named officers shall constitute an executive comm litte ec er empowered powered to transact all business for the society a majority of whom shall form a quorum ani and and shall also elect the honorary members SEC 4 it shall be the duty of the home secretary to keep the minutes of the society the correspond corresponding I 1 anz secretary shall carry on the correspondence spon dence with other Soil letle and with individuals in the furtherance of the objects of the society the treasurer shall keep the funds ot of the society and ans disburse them on the order 0 of the president or a vice president president countersigned counter signed by the home nome Secre secretary tari tarp and ghail shall make a report of the receipts and expenditures at the annual meeting he shall also distribute or preserve all seeds plant plants books ay which may be transmitted to this society SEC 5 there shall be an annual annual meeting of the society on the second monday of august in great pleased to observe a large glass jar of peaches preserved in brandy sent by professor A carrington some of which ach were 8 12 1 2 inches in circumference X A similar sized jar of peaches pea chesy chesi containing cathe the deseret beauty by dr drs S L sprague who presented about of his delicious pear peach and other varieties spread around on plass glass dib dis dishes iles lieg mr IW W woodruff presented over of 0 his prolific and peaches which hung in festoons fes in the centre and on the sides of the stage also a basket of ties fles and seara several beveral ll 11 p plates lates of his delicious mountain sweets and C crimson m peaches mr W C statues presented halt half a bushel of a very rine fine sample including a great variety from his celebrated celebrated gardin garden gardens mr thos thoa bullock also presented a punch bunch of fine dark red rare riper s hun bun hung in the centre of the stage also a fine ample sample of cathe the mallens maidens blush sir ir john presented over of his delicious varieties which showed the advanced stage of his method of cultivation ijes mrs john L smith sent a sample from her garden cultivated ut vat tat g ed by herself while her husband Is absent preaching the gospel marshal Hey uey heywoods woods lady sent several dozen of peaches from her hen er orchard mr V van il cott colt sent a dish of pale varieties aisa to shi ahk orchards estimated to gather bushel bushels this season mrs farnham presented a basket of splendid peaches which measure macure 7 or 8 inches in fix circumference cultivated while her husband Is to in of deseret who kho are interested in the cultivation of fruity truit fruit that we return our unfeigned thanks to the citizens who have so kindly presented this evening the best fruits of f their
