Speaking of the Savior, he says: "Being made perfect he became the AUTHOR OF ETERNAL SALVATION unto all them that obey Him." (Hebrews 5:8, 9.) iNtlalvation then seems to be the purpose or the goal of life. Obedience to its author is the inevitable pre,. requisite. Furthermore, according to these scriptures, there is available to as a Power, which, properly understood and utilized, will assist us to attain' that goal. If the gospel is the 6Phwer of God" our concept of his omnipotence forbids the thought that It will not be adequate tc; the task : assigned, viz: maril? salvation. If one speaks of re,icue or redemption they encounter, "saved from what." According to some present day philosophy, man is doing a fair job of saving himself by the gradual process ' Of evolution and the hope is expressed that this process will continue. The theory of evolution in the sense that man evolves from one stage of of being to another is not inconsistent with the science of theology.
