Popularity Of Double Ring Ceremonies Reported Increasing BY EDITH GAYLORD NEW YORK (AP) The war bride who wants to give a lasting token that will mean some- thing forever and can 'always her man in service is go finding the ideal answer in a wedding ring for him. Mote and more, society pages headline the double ring ceremony and feminine as well as masculine voices repeat, With this ring, I thee wed . Its an old Euiopean custom to which the war has given impetus for -- American adoption. MOST POPULAR The traditional plain gold cir- clet remains the most popular but there is a variety of simple, bands. One modernistic effect that is popular is a wide band made up of three plain circlets, each in a different tone of gold. A man likes a tailored ring, one levveler said. "He does not want orange blossoms twining e around his finger. With so many quick, stand-uchapel weddings that take plac4 on short notice and are not elaborate, there mav be no double ring ceremony, he said. in But there is a definite p crease m the brides purchase of a ring for the bridegroom which she then gives him as a wedding present. Sometimes it is a signet ring. MORE DOIBLE RINGS More fiequent use of the double ceremonv was reported by Avenue Fifth a fashionable church which listed several recent society weddings as examples. The Little Church Around the Corner, where so many couples from elsewhere come to be married, acknowledged a few double ring weddings, but declined to call them a trend yet. One Salt Lake jeweler reportthat he is selling only a few mens wedding rings; three stated that their sales of mens gold band rings had increased of late, doubling those of a year ago, and ed a fifth jeweler reported that he is selling ten times as many mens wedding rings this year as last As to the type of ring preferred by men. all jewelers stated that In a few cases the bridegrooms ring matched that of the bride, but the majority sold were plain gold bands- , - t |
